THANKFUL

Today January 11, I sing in remorse. For my man, my one, and only friend had forsaken me. Did I not fold your clothes, massage your back, kiss you from back to back? Did I not cook, clean, among other things? No, you never had to ask, no, you never had to say, “Can you clean this bae?”

But I thank you for your time. For the lessons that I learned. Yearning to please you from your neck to your feet to the pavement that crumbled at yo feet. Submerged deep into a life of whims and woos, I was surrounded by your every move, my needs made me weak. As I sit alone, salty and bittersweet. Turning over, thanking time, thanking him, thanking my own mind, for the good times we had just shared. Now I shed a tear. Yes, a tear for you and a tear for me, and the company you would bring, among other things.

I prayed for your family and your cruel friend, who would kiss you time to time, again and again. I closed my eyes, opened my doors. In hopes that one day, you would look to explore and love me once more.

My man,

He’s my man,

My man,

My best friend,

No one could understand,

My man,

My man,

Oh he’s my man,

In the middle of the night,

Middle of the night,

We fuss and fight,

But it’s alright,

Alright,

Cause he’s my man

And I’ll fight for his life,

Die by his side,

Forever in time,

Cause he’s my man,

See most wouldn’t know,

How my feelings show,

Only he knows,

My man,

I’ll steal for my man,

Kill for my man,

Die for his plan,

Cause he’s my man,

And I’m his ba-ba-ba-ba, baby,

He’s my man

I’ll run till the end,

Forever my friend,

I’ll die in his hands,

Cause he’s my man,
